Mel Gatfield

Member of the Executive Committee

Mel is an official with the Liquor Hospitality & Miscellaneous Workers Union (LHMU) in New South Wales, focusing on childcare workers.

Prior to the LHMU, Mel worked for the Finance Sector Union for 16 years, holding the positions of organiser, industrial officer and New South Wales Assistant Secretary. Mel’s interests include justice for low paid workers, pay equity and women’s participation in the workforce.

Mel holds a degree in Industrial Relations & Political Science from the University of New South Wales. She was elected to the Executive Committee in 2006 and is the Convenor of the Evatt Foundation's International Relations Committee.
