About the Public Sector Research Centre. The Public Sector Research Centre (PSRC) was set up at the University of New South Wales in 1989. The Centre undertakes research and education on medium term issues concerning the economic and social role of the public sector. The Centre receives funding from public sector unions; from Federal, State and Local governments and non-government organisations in the form of commissioned work; and from academic research funding bodies. The Centre produces a range of publications, including Monographs, Collected Papers and Seminar Papers. As with all Centre publications (unless otherwise indicated), the views in this Paper do not necessarily represent any official position on the part of the Centre. The Centre also has an active seminar programme aimed at union, management and academic audiences.
