About the Event
Every year, the Sydney Peace Prize brings the Sydney community together to talk about peace, justice and nonviolence, and to honour one of the world’s most inspiring peacemakers. World-renowned author, journalist, and activist Naomi Klein has won the 2016 Sydney Peace Prize and will visit Sydney in November to accept the Prize. On November 11 she will deliver the much-anticipated 2016 City of Sydney Peace Prize Lecture, and is awarded the Prize at Sydney Town Hall.
Naomi Klein is one of the world’s most powerful voices on climate change and economic justice of our time. Speaking truth to power and challenging our ways of living, Naomi’s bold, insightful and unapologetic analysis receives standing ovations worldwide.
This inspiring evening will feature an opening song by ARIA award-winning Missy Higgins, and introduction by 2008 Peace Prize recipient Senator Patrick Dodson, and the awarding of the Prize by Professor Gillian Triggs, President of the Australian Human Rights Commission.
