The Evatt Foundation proudly presents a suite of events to celebrate and critically reflect on the 70th anniversary of the adoption and proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Monday 10 December 2018 is the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations, the first time the organised community of nations has made a declaration of human rights. Australia was a leader in the development and adoption of the Universal Declaration. An Australian, Dr Herbert Vere Evatt, presided over the occasion as the President of the General Assembly — the highest position in international affairs ever attained by an Australian. To mark the anniversary, the Evatt Foundation presents a six-day program, featuring a play that goes behind the scenes 70 years ago, a landmark lecture and a public forum on the next 70 years.

Theatre: Eleanor and Mary Alice

Eleanor Roosevelt and Mary Alice Evatt meet up in a world framed by war, refugees, modernist art, and the campaign for a Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Presented by the Evatt Foundation in association with Tashmadada Theatre
