Clara Edwards

Secretary of the Evatt Foundation

Clara is a lawyer working in the arts sector. She has a background in public law and has worked in both private practice and government. She is committed to social justice principles of fairness, equality and diversity – particularly in the arts, but also in Australia more broadly. She has honours degrees in Law and Environmental Management from Macquarie University and is studying for her Master of Administrative Law and Policy at the University of Sydney. In 2016 she was awarded the Sue Nattrass Scholarship and completed a Graduate Certificate in Arts and Cultural Management at Deakin University. 

In addition to her professional and academic life, Clara is a playwright and dancer. She wrote, directed and produced a play for Sydney Fringe 2015 and teaches dance classes at Dance Central in Sydney. She was also recipient of the 2015 Lawyers Weekly '30 Under 30' Award in the Corporate Counsel category. As part of her commitment to the community, she is a member of several Young Lawyers committees including Public Law & Government and the Communications, Entertainment and Technology Committee, and also of SAMAG (Sydney Arts Management Advisory Group).

Clara was elected Secretary of the Evatt Foundation at the 2017 AGM.
